The age of irreligious sanctimony

When they speak from both sides of their mouths

When they wage a holy war for an ethnic purpose

When nation and state and culture are conflated

When the lines are blurred between fallacy and history

When turncoats hold more sway than the patient and the faithful

When men claim to speak in the voice of God

When God is measured by the size of an army

When woe become the doom-song for a zeitgeist

When lines are drawn in the sand with fire

When blood is not enough to stake a claim to inheritance

When a mirror bears the same weight as a hectare

When closed eyes with spears give way to bibles and guns

When religion no longer knows the power of a prayer

When the military is the chapel that dictates our values

When power is a function not of purpose, but control

When entire generations refuse to continue their bloodlines

When the genocide of a people is justified as vengeance

When lives are lost thanks to buearaucractic technicalities

We know that we have reached the end of an age where sanity has failed to prevail
